My parents, Clifford and Mary Ann, at the recent wedding of a child of family friends:

They have farmed in northwestern Callaway County, where I was raised, for over 50 years.

My mother was born and raised in the county. My father moved to one of the farms they now own in 1942 from the German-American community of New Melle in St. Charles County (eastern Missouri).
