My mother was recently written up in an article in the Fulton Sun, my parents' local newspaper. She has recently received a medal from the Joslin Diabetes Center for 50 years of living with type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes without developing significant complications. She was diagnosed over 56 years ago, just before she and my father were married.

She and my father were also interviewed by the local NBC affiliate, KOMU-TV, about Mom's diabetes, their life together and her award. The news story about them ran on December 13, 2007.
