DaveTour 2010 Update 3

It's been a busy few days and it's time to do an update.

On Tuesday, Steve took me up to the Whitefish Mountain Resort, just outside of town.

It is a ski resort but it has a variety of things to see and do during the summer months.

It was fun to visit and provides great views over the valley.

That evening we visited the weekly farmers' market

in the town square -- after a visit to the pub, of course.

On Wednesday, we drove into Glacier National Park for the first time on this trip. We hiked the Trail of the Cedars

and the Avalanche Trail up Avalanche Creek

up to Avalanche Lake.

I had done these trails (they are connected) during DaveTour 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed them then -- and this trip, too.

That evening we walked through town along the Whitefish River over to Whitefish Lake

Yesterday, we took the Red Bus

sub-alpine tour up to Logan Pass on the Going-to-the-Sun Road.

The road is an amazing feat of civil engineering and provides incredible views of the west side of the park.
