DaveTour 2007 Take 2 Update (6)

Everyone,

I hiked the Cascade River Canyon today and took the north fork up to Lake Solitude. It was extraordinary. I don't think I've ever had a better hike.

I caught the second ferry of the day across Jenny Lake (10:10 am), did my hike and caught the next to last ferry of the day (3:55 pm) back. The total hike was 14.4 miles with an elevation change of 2252'.

Lake Solitude sits at 9035' and I was the only person there for about 30 minutes. It was just great. I took a lot of pictures of the lake and down the canyon over the outlet/river. I hope they will make some good panoramas.

After the hike, I drove around the park just to see how the seasons are progressing.

The pictures from the hike are at http://www.dave-tech.com/f/DaveTour2007T2CascadeCanyon and the shots from around the park are at http://www.dave-tech.com/f/DaveTour2007T2GrandTeton

My plan at the moment is to get up early and drive back to Kansas City tomorrow. The mileage according to Google maps is just a bit less than the mileage to Billings, where I drove in one day last Wednesday. And if I get tired of driving, I'll just stop and spend the night.

I could always change my mind but I thought I'd do the DaveTour update tonight, just in case I don't.

I'll do a final update after I get home.

Dave
