Country Club Plaza

I live on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City (but have now moved to Columbia) -- commonly known simply as "The Plaza". It is a neighborhood built in the 1920's and is often referred to as the first shopping center. It is a great place to live if you like to walk around -- I frequently go days without starting my car -- and is thought of by many (me included) as the premiere shopping district in the Midwest.  read more »

Atlanta Condos

I have been looking at condos in Atlanta for a few months and have found two developments I like quite a bit. They are marked on the map below.


The blue marker shows a small low-rise development made up of two courtyard-style, three story buildings. The first level of each is single bedroom condos. The upper two stories are two-floor, two bedroom, (usually) 1½ bath, townhouse-style condos. Each includes a one-car garage, a rare thing in that part of town, as well as a balcony overlooking the courtyard.  read more »

Native Prairie Grasses

About a decade ago my father made changes to his beef operation and began including native prairie grasses which he planted in several pastures. His work in this area led to the farm being on agricultural tours and in some interest in the agricultural press.  read more »

Diabetes Interview

My mother was recently written up in an article in the Fulton Sun, my parents' local newspaper. She has recently received a medal from the Joslin Diabetes Center for 50 years of living with type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes without developing significant complications. She was diagnosed over 56 years ago, just before she and my father were married.  read more »
