Kitchen Improvements
The painting was done about a month ago, the floor was installed shortly after that and the new stainless appliances were put in about two weeks ago.

Remodeling the Attic Space - part 7
The project is just about done. These pictures were taken last weekend when only the final plumbing, the last coat of paint in the bedroom and just a bit of touch up remained. I wanted to get photographs of the space while it was still empty before I put a few items in the room which were likely to scratch the stairway (another coat of paint was about to be applied before the painters leave for good).
Today the plumbing was completed and a final coat of paint was put on the bedroom walls. Only a bit of touch up work remains.

Remodeling the Attic Space - part 6
I got back from my trip to Germany to find almost everything finished on the project except the painting, installation of bathroom fixtures and carpeting.
Now I'm faced with the basic problem I always knew was coming: what colors do I want to use for the walls, ceiling and carpet for the new master bedroom (and office) …

Christmas in Bavaria
This Christmas I was in Germany. And it was great.
My older niece, Kate, has been living in Garmisch, Bavaria, Germany, since August. My sister Jean (her mother) had been planning to visit her over Christmas with her husband, Don, and other daughter, Kara, and had been inviting my brother, Steve, and me to join for some months.
Over Thanksgiving, Steve and I decided to join them in Germany for the holidays. I left on December 23rd and arrived the morning of Christmas Eve day. It turned out to be a great trip. read more »

Remodeling the Attic Space - part 5
The remodeling project is looking great and I'm eager to get moved into it.
It has turned into a somewhat bigger project than I had planned a few months ago but every addition has just made me want it to be completed all the more. I pleased about the way it gives me a good-sized master bedroom suite without radically (or significantly, in my opinion) changing the 1925 look of the house.
The exterior is completed except for the painting of the eaves and exposed rafters, which will have to wait until the weather warms. read more »
